To my amazing dad ❤️ So many great memories of you, you used to take me to watch Manchester City as a young girl, you used to cover my ears as you did not want me to hear the supporters swearing. We managed to get Colin Bells shirt when he threw it in the cop end, number 8 on the back. You used to take me fishing, you wanted me to be able to look after myself just like my brothers, so you took me to judo lessons. Then it was my turn to look after you dad, I used to take you out every Saturday night for a dance at Terrys place as you used to call it, you always linked my arm on the way home, and you always told me I was a beautiful woman, and the words that always stay with me, I’m better than no one, and no one is better than me! Very true dad. Your no longer suffering as your now at peace ❤️ I miss you dad and will love you forever, your only daughter Michelle and your son in law Dan. Sleep well dad, god bless ❤️💓 xxxxxx

I remember when i was about 9 years old when we lived in a rough area of Manchester, dad taking me to see his beloved man city at maine road. They were playing Stoke city and we had to walk through all the Stoke fans in the kippax stand to get to were the city fans were stood, and a big skinhead ripped my bob hat off my head and started waving it around above his head. Dad asked for it to be given back but the skinhead just laughed as what was my dad going to do with me on his shoulders and being the only city fan around ? Well he got a real shock when dad lunged at him grabed the bob hat and sent him to the floor with a right hander, to the cheers of the rest of the crowd for sticking up to the skinhead bully. Dad was a real gent and not afraid of anyone and was my hero ! You will be terribly missed dad and we will meet again one day. Steven x

Grandad Bertie where do I start! I will never ever forget when I was little you used to swear blind that on my 16th birthday you would have me rock and rolling in the Legion and sure as hell on the day I turned 16 I was I was on that dance floor with you having the best time ever. I will also never forget in Spain when you bought that blow up paddling pool, me and grandma left you filling it up whilst we went shopping. When we came back you had prodding the sides up with plant plots whilst you sat there with a beer not realising that the water had knocked them over leaving the full pool covered in soil! We spent the next 3 days seiving it out haha. You were loved grandad by so many and to watch you so poorly was heartbreaking for us all. You are at rest now and you can look down on us all pain free and happy. Thank you for playing such a huge part in my life and always being there for me when I needed you I love you so much and will treasure our memories forever ❤️ Until we meet again grandad, love Danni and missy xxxxxx

Bert, its still a shock you are now with the angels. Fond memories of meeting you at the british legion in leyland when i worked behind the bar and going to rugby matches with you and my dad. You were always happy, smiley, loved a dance and a sing song. You will be sadly missed. Lots of love to you and your family at this sad time. R.i.p to a true legend 😘🥰😢. Steph xxxxx

Grandad Bert or Berty Bassett as we called him as kids (which he always got mad about) was and always will be a legend and a fighter. I remember before he went into the dementia home, we were out drinking with him in Towngate social club or Terry's bar as he called it, he said to me after one too many pints of bitter, "never give up playing your guitar, you'll make it one day" and those words have stuck in my mind and will do forever. A true inspiration to us all, you will be forever missed and in our thoughts Grandad. Lots of love - Jack x
